Kofi Gamamiwosror Agorsor: Eternal Feeling at Baginskaya Gallery and Studio | September 12 – October 29, 2013

Dubai (July 8, 2013) – Baginskaya Gallery and Studio is presenting a solo show of the renown Ghanaian painter, sculptor and musician Kofi Gamamiwosror Agorsor. The exhibition titled “Eternal Feeling” explores the artist’s witty observation of a relationship between a man and a woman and their behaviour in the society. The works are influenced by African culture with its rich and vibrant colours and dynamism. Kofi Agorsor’s exhibition will commemorate the launch of Baginskaya Gallery and Studio. His artworks will be on view from September 12 through October 29, 2013. The opening is on September 12, 2013 at 7 pm.

Being one of Ghana’s finest artists, Kofi Agorsor has been at the forefront of Ghana’s art scene for the last twenty years. In 1995 prof. Ablade Glover made this statement during an official opening of Agorsor’s show at the Italian Cultural Institute in Accra, Ghana: “It seems there is something in this young man that is going to burst open and I am waiting to see it happen”. He did not have to wait long as in less then five years Agorsor became a mature artist highly praised by the local and international art critics. Here is what Agorsor himself thinks: “Some people say I paint as a European or American interpreting African life. Some say my work is universal… I feel very universal”.

The exhibition will display 20 of his acrylic paintings. His semi abstract works are full of romanticism. The elongated figures with stylised heads and softly rounded bodies are humorous, yet lyrical. The artist’s creativity goes far beyond the usual boundaries and introduces his unique inner vision and perception of reality. Even in his abstract paintings, love is the dominant subject matter. With the help of colour and chaotic lines, Agorsor expresses his admiration of women, harmony in a relationship and unity of two souls.

Kofi Gamamiwosror Agorsor was born in Accra in 1970. He graduated from Ankle College of Art. Agorsor exhibits extensively at home and abroad. His artworks are also sold at Arthouse Contemporary Limited auction.
