PASSION FOR LIFE – a group exhibition: Parshin, Kuznetsov and Polyakov

at Baginskaya Gallery and Studio | April 16 – May 10, 2014

Dubai (April 6, 2014) – Baginskaya Gallery and Studio and Parshin Gallery are presenting leading Russian artists Sergey Parshin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Vasily Polyakov in a group exhibition PASSION FOR LIFE. The opening preview is on 16 April at 7pm. The show will run until 10 May, 2014.

Sergey Parshin, Evgeny Kuznetsov and Vasily Polyakov live and work in the North Caucasus. But this is the only fact that unites them. They draw inspiration from different sources. This is clearly reflected on their canvases, which are so contrasting. The frame of the exhibition does not allow us to show the full range of works with diversity of themes and styles of a particular artist; however, the viewer will still be able to take a glimpse into private lives of the artists through a limited number of paintings.

Parshin’s works selected for this show include landscapes and still-lifes. In case of Parshin both subject matters are inseparable. Nature of his native land, delicate flowers of the fields, local pottery interwoven with plants makes the viewer part of the artist’s world, which is real and enigmatic at the same time. Another artist, Kuznetsov, often includes people into his works. His genre paintings might seem clear and easy to understand, but they are, if fact, full of mystery. There is always a hidden meaning or a metaphor, which the spectator needs to decipher. The third participant of this show, Polyakov, stands in contract to the other two artists. He paints portraits, romanticizing the scenes. Very gentle brushstrokes coupled with light and predominately warm colours let his canvases breath. They transfer peace and tranquility. His paintings are not detailed and often seem incomplete, which creates an atmosphere of fragility of the moment. The vulnerability of soul, which opens up in every canvas, makes us part of his world.
